Tac-au-Tac Dance Theatre

An imaginative approach to dance which develops confidence, musicality and appreciation of the Arts …

Tac-au-Tac Dance Theatre was founded in 1999. It is a professional contemporary dance company based in Oxford and directed by Joëlle Pappas. Tac-au-Tac dancers collaborate with musicians, artists and film makers to create shows performed locally and abroad. Tac-au-Tac runs extensive education and community programmes.

Tac-au-Tac is a French expression which implies a quick response to a stimulus. Dancers are encouraged to respond to music, stories, adventures, emotions but predominantly to their imagination. They develop a movement repertoire from inner impulses. They learn how to structure movement phrases into choreographic works which they perform at regular intervals with the support of a team of experienced dancers, musicians and artists. In this context, Tac-au-Tac Dance Theatre is committed to nurturing the creative potential within every dancer.

Tac-au-Tac runs classes in Oxford as well as residencies in educational settings and provides INSET training for teachers and educators.
